'When I heard that a copy of 'Mild To Wild' by Map Studio was on its way, I was intrigued. What was this book all about? When I later heard that this book covers adventures and activities across 13 countries, I thought that's mad!

1 book. Adventures & Activities in 13 countries. Surely. Not possible?

Then it landed on my desk....then no sooner had it landed than it was nabbed by my business partner, Hannes. What followed, were comments of 'that's fliippin mental' and 'OMG, I didn't know that'. A concluding gem of a point was 'Greta, we've gotta do some of this stuff!' My response, 'Flip!'.

So, what's Mild To Wild got me into this time? Does the book really live up to its claims? Can it really deliver any sound quality when covering so much? .......and the simple answer, YES! Yes, Yes!! ...but why, I hear you ask....?

The book rates activities into 'To Do', 'Mild' or 'Wild' depending on the intensity. It also groups the adventures into categories of land, water and air. There are up to date and quality photos on every page to give you a taster of what to expect and whet that travelling appetite.

In an A4 format, you can easily see the maps and it gives ample space for the well written text and lovely images.

I'm more of a camping/hiking/land kinda girl, but there's plenty for me to do in this guide and loads to get inspired about. I expected it to be just crazy adventures, but there are heaps of normal activities too. I'm even tempted by some abseiling off Table Mountain or the Oribi Gorge in KwaZulu-Natal. My previous attempt of abseiling off Twickenham Rugby stadium wasn't so terrifying, surely 112m off Table Mountain will be just as easy ;-)

Walking with lions in Zimbabwe sounds pretty awesome, so does a river cruise on the Zambezi River in Zambia or some horse riding along the game filled plains of northern Tanzania. Extreme marathon running at the foot of the Kilimanjaro sounds mental, but wild gorilla tracking in Uganda is most definitely on my to do list. There's tonnes of fun adventures to be had across Southern Africa that I hadn't even thought about, let alone knew existed. This guide is extensive, well researched and easy to use.

A simple and concise description of each activity is given together with contact details of companies and tour operators that can assist you in planning your adventures. My only disappointment here is that Lekker Camper and our volkswagen campervans didn't get listed. Surely just a minor oversight or misprint ;-)

Hannes the navigator/'guide nabberer' loved the detailed maps. Every area is backed up by maps showing the location of each activity using icons that can be easily cross referenced to the text entries. There's also maps of popular tourist regions featured.

In between all the adventures and activities this book somehow manages to pack in an array of additional information on all the main sites, national parks and areas. I'm loving the story tit-bits that are interspersed throughout...who knew that according to legend, Sweweweekspoort ('seven weeks pass') refers to the time it took the early brandy smugglers to cross the mountain barrier. Other useful info includes hiking hotspots, areas in a nutshell for quick reference, game-viewing recommendations and must see & do activities.

Our verdict: Okay, so I'm hooked! I'm a Mild to Wild Lekker Camper addict. A new, more informed adventurer armed with 192 pages of potential bucket list candidates to enjoy with my Comfort T3/T25 Campervan. Adios amigos!
